High School students challenge themselves at Lion's Camp
Teamwork, role modeling, and leadership -- those were the buzzwords at the Youth Leadership Conference, held October 7-9th, 2007 and attended by approximatly 65 students from four area schools.

High School students from North Crawford, Prairie du Chien, Seneca, and Wauzeka wereinvited to come and spend three days, two nights at the Wisconsin Lions Club. Students are selected by their school advisors to attend based on their leadership skills, commitment to their schools, and willingness to make a difference in their communities.

The Fall Leadership Conference trains students to expand their leadership skills, work as a team, and utilize community resources. The conference places a heavy emphasis on volunteering, being an active member of your community, and mentoring younger students.

This year's conference will be October 5-7th, 2008.  It will again be help at the Lions Camp in Rosholt, WI.  There are many different challenges that students face to work on their leadership skills.  The highlight of the conference always seems to be the ropes challenge course, which has students walking on logs 30 feet in the air and climbing the rock wall with their eyes closed. Communication, teamwork, and determination get the students up the wall, across the log, and through the other challenging ropes course elements.

C.A.R.E. has sponsored this annual conference every fall since 1989, training more than 1,000 students through the 18 years. The Youth Leadership Committee (YLC) helps plan and implement the conference.
