Meth Task Force sponsors Drug Endangered Children training
More than 70 professionals and community members make a commitment to learn more about and assist children in Crawford County who live in drug-endangered environments.

Special Agent In Charge Cindy Geise of the Wisconsin Department of Justice, Narcotics Bureau, conducted a three-hour training for law enforcement, human services, public health, medical professionals, prevention providers, educators, parents, high school youth, and youth-serving organizations on February 28th.

The training outlined what a drug-endangered environment looks like and how all sectors in the community can come together to rescue and support children living in those surroundings.

Following the presentation, participants brainstormed how they could help, either as agency representatives or individuals.

A Drug Endangered Child is a child who lives in or is exposed to an environment where drug use and manufacturing takes place. These children are at risk for developmental delays and may experience physical, social, or emotional problems as a result of their living environment.

Establishing a coordinated response to children who are endangered by drug environments aims to ensure the child is rescued and receives the necessary long-term support and follow-up care needed.

The training was sponsored by the Crawford Abuse Resistance Effort (C.A.R.E.) and the Methamphetamine Task Force.
