Fourth and Fifth grade students are too good for drugs.
“Too Good For Drugs” is a ten lesson after-school program that combines the “Too Good For Drugs” curriculum with other activities to offer a comprehensive education program that focuses on building the skills students need to resist peer pressure and make healthy choices. The program is sponsored by the Crawford Abuse Resistance Effort and Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital, and funded through a Drug Free Community Support Program grant. Read more
People Actively Linked with Students (PALS)
P.A.L.S. (People Actively Linked with Students) is a mentoring program that connects youth with caring high school students or community adults who can help them aspire, achieve, and develop to their fullest potential.
Young people who need a mentor are often children who are experiencing stressful home situations, says Mentor Coordinator Kathy Quamme. “Some may be experiencing problems in school and need an adult to help tutor and encourage them. Others may just need an extra friend.” Read full article
PdC Youth selected to serve on statewide board
A Prairie du Chien freshman has been selected to serve on a statewide youth board dedicated to the prevention of tobacco use in Wisconsin. Kyle Picha will be one of 20 youth throughout Wisconsin on the Youth Advisory Board for FACT, or Fighting Against Corporate Tobacco. As a board member, Kyle will have imput into statewide events, and be able to network with youth throughout Wisconsin. Read more
