Resources for Parents in Crawford County area
Parenting Classes Family Resource Center, Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital, and University of Wisconsin – Extension offer a full menu of parenting classes. Learn more about some of the classes and workshops currently offered. Immunization Clinics Immunizations for Diphtheria, Whooping Cough, and Tetanus, Polio, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, HIB, Hepatitis B, Pneumococcal conjugate and chicken pox will be offered at all the centers. Chicken pox vaccine is offered by appointment only, due to fragile nature of the vaccine. There are no charges for these immunizations. Please bring your child’s previous immunization records with you each time. Tetanus-Diphtheria will be offered to adults free of charge at all centers. See schedule for 2006.

Don't take chances. Have one of our certified car seat technician’s help with the proper installation of your car seat. Car seats are also available to for rental for a nominal annual fee. Please call Family Resource Center at (608) 357-2135 to set up an appointment. Toy Lending Library Family Resource Center has an extensive toy and resource lending library. Area parents, grandparents, childcare providers, and teachers are welcome to check out toys and books. Items include porta-cribs, baby swings, high chairs, strollers, car seats, life jackets, bicycle helmets, booster seats and safety gates. WIC Nutrition Program The Women, Infants, and Children Program (WIC) provides food, as well as nutrition information, to help keep pregnant and breastfeeding woemn, infants, and children under five years of age healthy and strong. Eligible foods include milk, juic, cheece, infant formula, eggs, peanut butter, tuna fish, carrots, cereal, and dried beans and peas. Who may qualify if: you live in Wisconsin; are pregnant, breastfeeding, or a new mother; have an infant or child under the age of five; have health or nutrition needs; meet income guidelines. WIC uses the same income criteria as free and reduced price school lunches. Fathers, guardians, or foster parents may also apply for WIC on behalf of their children. Family Visiting Family visitors are available for parents wishing to talk to another adult, to learn more about parenting issues, and to learn about area resources. This program offers the convenience of having a family visitor come right to your door. This program is offered in different formats including school-based teen parenting.
