PdC teens joined others from around the state at Wisconsin Teen Regional Institute
Students from Prairie du Chien High School attended youth leadership training at the University of Wisconsin – Richland Center campus.  The Wisconsin Teen Regional Institute (WRTI) is an intense, four-day training that addresses social issues youth face today, peer pressure resistance skills, communication and teamwork, and being a valuable member of your school and community. Kick "Ash" Bash celebrates being tobacco free
More than 145 middle school students attended two tobacco-free events sponsored by C.A.R.E.'s Youth Leadership Committee. The popular "Kick Ash Bashes" were held in Prairie du Chien on March 9th at the National Guard Armory and in Soldiers Grove on March 23rd at the American Legion. Bash activities included a live DJ, concessions, trivia, a graffiti wall, and tobacco facts.  Read more


Middle School retreat at Wisconsin Badger's Camp
Middle school students from six area schools participated in an overnight leadership retreat at the Wisconsin Badger Camp. The event featured keynote speaker Tom Kidd, who addressed making the most of your middle school years. The two-day leadership training also included art instruction, a “colors of your personality” presentation, team building games, and a dance. Read full article.


High School leadership conference
Teamwork, role modeling, and leadership -- those were the buzzwords at the Youth Leadership Conference, held October 8-10th at the Wisconsin Lion's Camp. This year's conference  was attended by more than 65 students from Boscobel, North Crawford, Prairie du Chien, Seneca, and Wauzeka schools.  Read full article.


All Nighter 2007
At the 2006 All Nighter, Speaker Dan Slowey begins an activity that demonstrates how the choices we make affect what our future will be like.
At the 2006 All Nighter, Speaker Dan Slowey begins an activity that demonstrates how the choices we make affect what our future will be like.
“All Nighter” 2007 is an overnight event for students entering their freshman year this fall. Last year's event was attended by 45 students from three area schools. The includes a motivational speaker, live DJ, movies, card tournament, and more.
Keynote Speaker Tom Kidd will talk about making the most of your high school years, steering clear of alcohol and drug use, having a positive attitude, and taking advantage of opportunities to be involved in activities and clubs.  The event is set for July 10, 2007. Read more

Are you a high school student interested in making a difference in your school and community? Do you enjoy meeting people from other schools? Do you enjoy volunteering? Are you interested in sharpening your leadership skills and attending statewide networking events? If so, the YLC may be for you.
Next YLC Meeting
YLC will have their next meeting on Wednesday, October 17th at 3:30, right after school lets out. The meeting will be held at the C.A.R.E. house at 705 South Buchanan Street, Prairie du Chien, WI 53821. The meetings are scheduled to be held every other Wednesday after school at the CARE house. Hope to see you there.

Would you like to make a difference in the life of a child? P.A.L.S. (People Actively Linked with Students) is a mentoring program that connects youth with caring adults who can help them aspire, achieve, and develop to their fullest potential.
PdC youth on statewide board
A Prairie du Chien freshman has been selected to serve on a statewide youth board dedicated to the prevention of tobacco use in Wisconsin. Kyle Picha will be one of 20 students throughout Wisconsin on the Youth Advisory Board for FACT, or Fighting Against Corporate Tobacco.
