Ten area students attend regional training
Students from Prairie du Chien High School attended youth leadership training at the University of Wisconsin – Richland Center campus.

The Wisconsin Teen Regional Institute, WRTI, is an intense, four-day training that addresses social issues youth face today, peer pressure resistance skills, communication and teamwork, and being a valuable member of your school and community.

In addition to leadership workshops, the students work with their advisors and high school peer mentors to identify issues in their home communities and develop and action plan to combat those issues.

The local students who participated are part of the CARE Youth Leadership Committee, a program that engages youth as leaders and as substance-abuse prevention providers in their communities.

Local participants included Prairie du Chien freshman Kyle Picha, Claire Winkleski, Anthony Homer, Brandon Looney, Neysa Sanders, and Prairie du Chien juniors Tabitha Klema, Melodie Dobson, Kia Schilling, Rianne Cavage, and Lacy Kreul.
